Los Angeles, CA (February 18, 2025) — The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHM) announced the schedule and theme for First Fridays 2025, the Museum’s once-a-month evening series featuring a mix of science, live music, signature cocktails, pop-up events and more.
This year’s First Fridays season, titled Amplified, turns the volume up on sound and music, tapping into humans’ relationship with music and how it affects our bodies and lives. In addition to the monthly discussions being held in the brand new Commons Theater, 2025’s season will also introduce a “Sound Lounge” providing immersive sonic experiences as well as a new partnership with SEGA, which will be hosting a gaming popup for their title Two Point Museum.
The season begins on March 7 with an evening focused on the science of sound healing and a discussion in the new Commons Theater featuring Dr. AZA Allsop of Yale School of Medicine
Following “Healing Sounds,” First Fridays will examine the sounds of nature and their value in environmental conservation on April 4 (“Sound and Nature”). May’s “Experiencing Sound” (May 2) will show how music is experienced by the deaf and hard of hearing and what’s being done to make musical experiences more inclusive. Finally, the season will close with “Music and the Mind” on June 6, which will take a look at how listening to and creating music affects both an individual’s brain as well as a collective society.
Each event will feature a series of engaging onsite lectures, music, art, vendors, and performances aimed at bringing together diverse audience communities to explore questions about the musical and natural world. First Fridays: Amplified will elevate unique voices, enrich perspectives, and introduce dynamic music in the vibrant and stimulating setting of NHM after-hours.
First Fridays events run from 5 pm until 10 pm. Tickets for each event go on sale roughly a month beforehand and cost $25 each. Attendance is free for Members, but advanced reservations are recommended as limited tickets are available at the door.
More information is available at nhm.org/firstfridays.
First Fridays 2025 is sponsored by Two Point Museum and Sega.
