Exposition Park Museums Align in Mask Wearing Policy

California African American Museum, California Science Center, and Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County will continue to require masks regardless of vaccination status

Los Angeles (June 15, 2021) — The museums of Exposition Park announced today that together they will continue to require visitors to wear masks indoors. The California African American Museum (CAAM), California Science Center, and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHM) said that despite the County of Los Angeles’ loosening of restrictions on wearing face coverings in public for those who are fully vaccinated, masks will still be required indoors for the safety of all their visitors, as Public Health guidelines stipulate that businesses can individually determine their own mask use policies.

A joint statement released by all three museums stated: “The health and safety of our visitors and staff remains our number one priority. While Los Angeles is moving closer to community immunity, we cannot forget our vulnerable populations, including our youngest visitors—those 11 and under—who are not yet eligible to receive the vaccine. It is important to us not only to help keep our community safe, but to help ensure that parents feel safe bringing their children to our museums. For this reason, we join together in continuing to require all visitors ages 2 and up —vaccinated or not— wear masks at all times when indoors.”

Located west of Downtown, Exposition Park is a collection of world-class museums, educational and sports facilities, and entertainment venues that serve as an activity hub for the community. In addition to CAAM, the Science Center, and NHM, the 160-acre campus includes the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the Los Angeles Football Club Banc of California Stadium, and the City of Los Angeles Rose Garden.
