Event Spaces
Located in Hancock Park in the heart of metropolitan Los Angeles, La Brea Tar Pits is one of the most famous fossil localities.
By hosting an event in the museum at La Brea Tar Pits your guests will enjoy a unique opportunity to attend an event at the world’s only active paleontological site in an urban setting.
We offer a variety of different options for your event needs.
Museum at La Brea Tar Pits
Our most popular event space is inside the museum at La Brea Tar Pits. The museum is best suited for reception-style celebrations for up to 300 guests and intimate dinners for up to 50 guests and welcomes all types of events from corporate holiday parties to life cycle celebrations such as weddings, anniversary parties, bar/bat mitzvahs and more. When you rent the museum, you receive access to all exhibits as well as the atrium garden (no setup allowed inside the garden). In addition, the circular nature of the building makes it perfect for networking.
Great Lawn
Hancock Park’s Great Lawn serves as a community gathering spot for everything from soccer to sunbathing. This space is available for a limited number of events and programs that are open to the general public. Please contact us to learn if your event fits within our guidelines.
Hancock Park
Select areas of Hancock Park are available for wedding ceremonies. Contact us to schedule a site tour with our sales team to discuss options.
Museum at La Brea Tar Pits Roof
Another amazing option for your wedding ceremony is the roof of our museum. It provides stunning views of Los Angeles and Miracle Mile. Please note that this space is not ADA accessible. Contact us to discuss options and requirements for using this space.
Museum Roundabout
This circular drive and picnic area located in front of the museum is available as an add-on option for events taking place in the museum or on the Great Lawn.
