Dr. Amy Gusick, Associate Curator of Anthropology, presents the contents of NHMLAC's extensive barkcloth collection in an upcoming, online exhibition. Tapa (barkcloth) and woven mats are produced in communities all over the world, but particularly symbolic of respect, connection, kindship and used as clothing among the Pacific Islands.
